Virtual machine manager
Вопросы и ответы
VM Manager is a suite of tools that can be used to manage operating systems for large virtual machine (VM) fleets running Windows and Linux on Compute Engine. VM Manager helps drive efficiency through automation and reduces the operational burden of maintaining these VM fleets.
The VMM Agent resides on Hyper-V hosts. The VMM Server uses the agent to effect changes to the virtualization environment and to monitor its health. You can use VMM to manage your VMware ESX instances. Centralized management is not possible in a heterogeneous environment.
Start Virtual Machine Manager by running the virt-manager command from the command line. Left-click the virtual machine that you need to view or modify from the list of virtual machines and select Open.
Close any open programs and ensure that no restarts are pending on the computer. To start the Virtual Machine Manager Setup wizard, on your installation media, right-click setup.exe and then select Run as administrator. In the main setup page, select Install.
VM also called a “bare metal” VMM. A thin software layer that runs directly on the host machine hardware; its main advantage is performance [see Figure 5.3(b)]. Examples: VMWare ESX, ESXi Servers, Xen, OS370, and Denali.
